VIRMALISED

Virmalised is a dance group that enthusiastically promotes the strong and vibrant Estonian culture of folk dancing in Australia. The foundation for Virmalised was laid in folk dance performances dating back to 1934, with the name “Virmalised (Aurora)” being adopted by our group in 1969, representing our connection to our Estonian roots in the Northern Hemisphere and the extraordinary visual spectacle the aurora borealis display as they dance across the night sky.

In 2025, a number of our dancers proudly represented Australia at the XXI Estonian Dance Celebration (tantsupidu) in Tallinn. Our highlights of 2026 have been performing alongside dancers from neighbouring nations at the National Multicultural Festival and at UkiFest in celebration of the XIV National Ukrainian Festival.

We are delighted to be part of the XXX Eesti Päevad and look forward to sharing the energy, colour and joy of Estonian folk dancing with you.
