EUROOPA EESTLASTE KOOR

Kuidas saab harrastuskoor, mille lauljad käivad koos vaid loetud korrad aastas, üldse eksisteerida ning valikkoorina laulupeol osaleda?
Palun, siin ta on – Euroopa Eestlaste Koor.

Euroopa Eestlaste Koori eelkäijaks on 2003. aastal asutatud Saksamaa eestlaste segakoor – EÜSL-i projektikoor.

Lisaks on väärikalt esindatud Šveits, Suurbritannia, Prantsusmaa, Rootsi, Soome, Läti, Hispaania, Albaania, sekka vilksab teisigi Euroopa riike.

Lisaks üldlaulupidudele võtab koor alati osa võrukeelsetest Uma Pidodest, käidud on Rakvere punklaulupeolgi. Loomulikult on Euroopa Eestlaste Koor osalenud ESTOdel ja teistel ulgueestlaste üritustel Euroopas, Kanadas ja Ameerika Ühendriikides. Ees ootab Austraalia debüüt.

Koori juhatavad Elo Tammsalu ja Kalev Lindal.

Lauldes oleme alati lähedal.

How can an amateur choir, whose singers meet only a handful of times a year, even exist and participate in a song festival as a selected choir?

Well, here it is—the European Estonian Choir.
The predecessor of the European Estonian Choir was the mixed choir of Estonians in Germany—the EÜSL project choir—founded in 2003. After participating in the 2004 Song Festival, Estonians across Europe were invited to join together as a pan-European collective, and in July 2007, the European Estonian Choir was born.

Having participated in every Song Festival since 2009, this mixed choir—with more than 100 members—is one of the largest.

The current lineup includes the most singers from Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Switzerland, the United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Spain, and Albania are also well represented, with members from other European countries as well.

The choir is so enjoyable that even several members who have returned to Estonia don’t mind traveling to Central Europe for rehearsals, even though there are plenty of choirs in their home country.

It goes without saying that rehearsals for a choir like this cannot take place every week, or even every month. The choir rehearses three or four times a year at highly intensive camps, and in between, members must practice on their own. The singing camps are usually held in Germany, Luxembourg, or France, and in Estonia during the summer.

In addition to general song festivals, the choir always participates in the Võru-language Uma Pidod festivals and has also performed at the Rakvere punk song festival. Naturally, the European Estonian Choir has participated in ESTO events and other gatherings of Estonians abroad in Europe, Canada, and the United States. A debut performance in Australia lies ahead.

The choir is conducted by Elo Tammsalu and Kalev Lindal.

Through song, we are always close.
