HELSINGI HELMED

Naisrahvatantsurühm Helsingi Helmed on tegutsenud Soome pealinnas Helsingis alates  märtsist 2018.

Helsingi Helmed on esinenud kahel üldtantsupeol. 2025. aasta üldtantsupeo teema oli suguvõsa kokkutulek ning Helmed tantsisid peol koos teiste välisrühmadega Üleilma liigis. Lisaks on rühm osalenud Tartus kultuuripealinna aasta tantsupeol ”Juure juures” ning kolmandal Eesti Naiste Tantsupeol (2022). Hetkel harjutab rühm juba täistuuridel 2027. aasta naiste tantsupeoks.

Helsingis on Helmed mitmeid kordi üles astunud Eesti taasiseseisvumispäeva piknikul Seurasaari vabaõhumuuseumis, Tuglase Seltsi Mardilaadal ning Kevadisel tantsupäeval, mida Helsingi kesklinnas korraldab segarühm Ülelahedad.

Lisaks käivad Helmed igal aastal esinemas Espoo seeniorikeskuses, kus pärimustantse tantsima tõmmatakse ka keskuse inimesed.

Helsingi Helmed is a women’s folk dance group that has been active in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, since March 2018. The group consists of 20 cheerful and enthusiastic dancers, led by dance instructor Marve Nakus.

The Helmed dancers proudly wear traditional folk costumes from Maarja-Magdaleena parish in Tartu County. Their repertoire includes more than 20 choreographed dances by contemporary creators, as well as a wide selection of traditional folk dances.

The group rehearses every week and regularly organises dance camps to refine their skills and develop as dancers. Helsingi Helmed has performed at two Estonian General Dance Celebrations. The theme of the 2025 General Dance Celebration was a family reunion, and the Helmed dancers performed alongside other international Estonian dance groups in the Üleilma (Worldwide) group.

The group has also participated in the dance festival Juure juures during Tartu’s year as European Capital of Culture, as well as the third Estonian Women’s Dance Celebration in 2022. The dancers are currently training at full speed for the 2027 Estonian Women’s Dance Celebration.

In Helsinki, Helmed has performed on several occasions at the Estonian Restoration of Independence Day picnic at the Seurasaari Open-Air Museum, the St Martin’s Day Fair organised by the Tuglas Society, and the Spring Dance Day organised in central Helsinki by the mixed folk dance group Ülelahedad.

In addition, Helmed visits a senior care centre in Espoo every year to perform, often encouraging the residents to join in and experience the joy of traditional folk dancing themselves.
