Koor on hästi omandanud Eesti meeskooride klassikalise lauluvara.
Koor on osalnud kõigil üldlaulupidudel alates 2004.aastat.
Dirigent Karin Raamat on koori lauluharjutusi läbi viinud aastast 2008. Karini käe all on koorist saanud mehiselt. kuid emotsionaalselt musitseeriv kollektiiv.
Meeskoori juhendamine on Karinile toredaks vahelduseks igapäevasele muusikaõpetaja-tööle Tartu Waldorfgümnaasiumis. ![]()

The Tartu Men’s Choir “Akadeemiline Emajõgi” was founded in 2001. Over the years, what began as a choir for the Song Festival has grown into a lively and enthusiastic group of male singers. The choir consists of 35 men, including fathers and sons.
The choir regularly gives solo concerts and eagerly participates in joint concerts with sister choirs.
The choir has mastered the classical repertoire of Estonian men’s choirs. It has also performed popular opera classics as well as the most beautiful Estonian love songs in collaboration with women’s choirs.
Singing tours have taken the choir to both the sea and the mountains, to Finland, Saaremaa, Ruhnu, and Kihnu, as well as to Ukraine and Switzerland.
As a result of its dedicated work, the choir was awarded third place in Category B at the 2013 Gustav Ernesaks Men’s Choir Competition.
The choir has participated in every national song festival since 2004.
To fan the flame of song burning in the hearts of the men, the choir has organized major events in addition to its musical performances; the most memorable of these were the 2009 and 2014 Song and Dance Festival “Tuletulemine.”
And as if that weren’t enough, the choir participated in the second Estonian Men’s Dance Festival in 2010 with the dance groups “Tenor” and “Bass.”
The choir celebrated its 25th anniversary with a lively concert on May 9, 2026, in Tartu, where, amid the audience’s overwhelming applause and cheers, it performed the best pieces from the repertoire it had built up over the past 25 years.
Conductor Karin Raamat has led the choir’s rehearsals since 2008. Under Karin’s guidance, the choir has become a group that performs with both masculine vigor and emotional depth.
Conducting the men’s choir is a welcome change of pace for Karin from her daily work as a music teacher at the Tartu Waldorf High School.
